NORD University offers a three-year performing arts education leading to a Bachelor degree in Acting and Artistic Production. Semester courses are also available for students who are interested in studying within the first year of the Bachelor programme. Applications from international citizens are welcome for all study programmes. The official teaching language of the education is in English although some basic understanding of Norwegian, or other Scandinavian language, may be useful. In order to be offered a study place, you must first submit an application and then complete the audition process. Auditions may be performed in any language you prefer.

STEP 1: APPLICATION

STEP 2: AUDITIONS
The auditions are conducted in three stages. Each stage will be led by members of our teaching staff and will focus on different aspects of acting and performance. You are welcome to perform in the language of your choice.
1st AUDITION: Monologues
Choose two contrasting texts that showcase different qualities of acting. You may perform in your native language or any language of your choosing. You will not be given suggestions of texts to perform.Each monologue should be no longer than 2 minutes and you should be prepared to introduce each monologue with the following essential details: play/title, author, character, and scene. You can participate in the first stage by either attending the Oslo Audition or by submitting a Digital Audition together with your application:
• Oslo Audition:
Candidates attending in Oslo will perform their monologues in front of a jury. With your permission, we will take a photo of you after your audition for identification purposes during the selection process.
– Perform two monologues (max 2 minutes each).
Oslo: 1st/2nd/3rd March 2025
• Digital Audition:
For those unable to attend the Oslo audition, you may submit a digital audition.
– Submit 1 video introducing yourself (max 1 minute).
– Submit 2 videos of your monologues, each including a brief introduction to the text (max 3 minutes per video, including introduction and performance).

GUIDELINES
Content:
• Personal introduction (≤ 1 min): State your name, age, where you are from, and why you are applying.
• Monologues: Record two contrasting monologues (≤ 2 minutes each). Before performing each monologue, give a brief introduction (character, text, and author). Perform each monologue in a single take without edits. Ensure a clear ending before stopping the recording. Perform using your preferred choice of language.
Filming guidelines:
• Each monologue must be recorded in a single take without cuts or edits.
• Each recording should be no longer than 3 minutes (including text introduction).
• Ensure the camera is stable and positioned to show your entire body.
• Use good lighting, a neutral space, and ensure clear audio quality.
• Double-check that your video is clear and audible.
• We evaluate your acting skills, not the technical quality of the video.
• File naming: Use your full name for all uploaded files/links.
2nd AUDITION: Half-Day Workshop
Candidates advancing from the first round will attend a half-day workshop focusing on movement and improvisation. Wear clothes suitable for movement, remove/protect jewellery and come prepared to explore with playfulness and collaboration.
You may choose to attend the audition at either of the following locations:
Oslo: 24th – 30th March 2025
Levanger: 31st March – 6th April 2025
3rd AUDITION: 4-Day Workshop
Finalists will be invited to Nord University’s campus in Levanger for an intensive four-day workshop. This will simulate a typical week of study at Nord, allowing you to experience the programme while teachers assess your suitability academically and socially.
• Activities include improvisation, movement, music, singing, and ensemble work.
• At the start of the workshop, you will receive a creative group assignment, with results presented on the final day.
Levanger: 27th – 30th April 2025
STEP 3: Selection
The final selection will be decided by a jury of Nord University pedagogues who will give the following outcomes: offer of a study place, placement on a waiting list, or a rejection.

We seek candidates with strong acting talent, excellent collaboration skills, and clear motivation for the programme. We prioritise candidates who show potential to thrive in our teaching methods.

Our teaching is ensemble-based, so we aim to create a balanced and diverse class dynamic with various acting talents. Constructive collaboration with teachers and peers is crucial for success.
Number of study places:
The programme can admit up to 60 students in total, divided across three classes, allowing for approximately 20 students per class.
